On October 27th, the world said good bye to a legendary artist when Freddie Hart passed away.
The singer had a run of No. 1 country hits in the early 1970's and won numerous awards for his smash "Easy Loving," a No. 1 country hit, which also reached the Top 20 on pop charts. The song also had the unique honor of winning the Country Music Association Award for best song two years in a row, in 1971 and 1972. Hart's career encompassed several eras of country music. He also wrote songs for Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Buck Owens, George Jones, Waylon Jennings and dozens of others. He was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2004.
Just prior to his death, Hart had been working with his friend, David Frizzell, on what would be Hart's final recording. This very special album, yet to be released, includes the song, "At This Time of Year" now available for the 2018 Christmas season. This very special song is a gift from Freddie, and though he'd grown frail, his kind heart and characteristic optimism shine through on this tender and timely song.
